Change Should be Embraced in Life and Business
Embrace Change in your Life and Business
Change is something that many people face and many people are uncomfortable with. Face it, human beings want to be comfortable and stay in a familiar environment.
But what if the environment is toxic?
What if that business practice is inefficient?
All too often I see business clients of mine refusing to adapt to current business practice, reciting rhetoric that kills a piece of my soul every time I hear it…
“This is how we’ve always done it.”
– Famous Last Words
“This Is How We’ve Always Done It”
Very few sayings make my blood boil as much as this saying right here. You would think that if a human being tries something for so long and it doesn’t work or is measurably declining in performance, that there would be a lightbulb.
The human mind is a very peculiar thing.
Oftentimes people will call someone out for making the same mistakes, (tastes in dating, gambling, choice in vehicles, etc.) yet never look at themselves or their business in the same light.
Enter, Me.
Change is Necessary – Adapt or Die
When you exercise your body it has two options, either it shuts down and dies, or it adapts and becomes stronger and can handle the next workout session better.
You need to train your mind and build your business to do the exact same thing.
One of the biggest excuses I see owner/operator or other types of small businesses excuse their declining business performance is big box stores, internet, franchises, etc. and fail to take responsibility with their inability to adapt.
In today’s world, with access to the internet, anyone can begin a business in any sector. “Old School” business owners that decide not to modernize their practices will be weeded out and shut down, that is the nature of business. If they cannot dedicate the time to learn or become computer savvy, they need to hire a professional.
This same philosophy, as stated above, can become part of your decision-making process in personal affairs as well. Is there an obstacle or personal shortcoming you have? We all have something that we can improve that will result in better life experience, and if you feel like you don’t…then there it is, you have an ego problem (which is extremely common I might add).
